Orthodontic treatment can correct malocclusion. This, additionally, improves the harmony of facial structures, increases healthy appearance and beautiful teeth for the rest of life, and helps prevent language defects. What is an orthodontic treatment?
Orthodontic treatment is performed using fixed or mobile braces specifically designed, but the use of fixed braces is much better. This method gives a particularly good result for the removal of sick or rotated incisors or the introduction of irregularly placed teeth in the bow. Fixed device therapy can be used in both adolescents and adults.
The fixed braces consist of a series of clamps and special rings that connect to teeth with orthodontic cements. During the entire treatment period they remain on the teeth, which require a particular hygiene and care by the patient. This device is installed by your doctor during regular visits taking place every 4-6 weeks. At the end of the treatment, the braces and the cement are removed without damaging the enamel. Depending on the type of adjustment needed, the treatment lasts for several months to up to two years.
Hygiene and diet during orthodontic treatment
Orthodontic treatment requires very careful oral hygiene. Your doctor will explain how to brush your teeth well and clean the interdental spaces and surrounding areas. Very important in maintaining proper hygiene is the diet. We recommend using soft foods except fruits (not crushed), dried fruits or vegetables. It is also suggested to eliminate from your diet all the sticky and difficult to remove products such as caramel, candies and chewing gum.
